10 Lessons from America’s Greatest Military Leaders

Nov 12B2B CFO

Nice write up by Kara Ohngren for Entrepreneur on leadership that holds true in business as well.

  1. George Washington – Trust your core team
  2. Winfred Scott – Never compromise
  3. Robert E. Lee – Respect your team
  4. Ulysses S. Grant – Don’t give up
  5. George S. Patton – Help your team achieve greatness
  6. Lester B. ‘Chesty’ Puller – Stay positive
  7. Dwight D. Eisenhower – Create a cooperative culture
  8. Dudley ‘Mush’ Morton – Keep everyone motivated
  9. Eugene B. Fluckey – Recognize your hard workers
  10. H. Norman Schwarzkopf – Get in the trenches

I agree with 9 of those 10 completely.  I disagree with Winfred Scott’s lesson as it relates to business.  Compromise is often a key aspect of consensus building, teamwork, getting things done and closing a deal.
