2020 Hindsight

Sep 12Roger Kohl

On April Fool’s Day 1976 Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak founded Apple when they were 21 and 26 respectively.

Apple’s sales in that first year were $174K, 2nd year sales $2.7M, 2010 $65B, Q3 ’11 sales have already surpassed 2010.

There was a sometimes overlooked third founder, Ronald Wayne, then 42 whose role was largely experienced oversight with the younger Jobs and Wozniak. Wayne sold his non-dilutive 10% equity less than 2 weeks later for $800.00. Today those shares are valued at $35B.  Wayne didn’t doubt the vision rather other circumstances prompted his sale.  I was glad to read he has no regrets.
